You are invited to join us Saturday March 2nd  for our Guests and Members observing night at our observatory. Weather permitting, we will have several telescopes set up for you to enjoy the bright stars of the winter sky.  Some of our members will have telescope outside for viewing.  You will also have an opportunity to visit the telescope in our observatory dome. When approaching a telescope ask the owner if they are willing to share the views.

On clear winter nights the temperature drops off quickly after dark in rural areas. Dress in layers. A warm coat, cap and gloves are recommended.  Your feet will appreciate Warm Closed toed shoes.  Bring along something to drink and maybe a light energy snack.   We do have a restroom and a classroom area to warm up a bit and visit.

The planet Jupiter and its moons is still visible in the SW.     The winter sky contains 8 or the 20 brightest stars forming a large “winter circle or hexagon”   The bright winter constellations of Taurus, Auriga, Orion and Gemini are all easily observed.  Telescopes will reveal the large Orion Nebula and several easy star clusters,

PLEASE NOTE: If adverse weather is nearby, we may cancel or close earlier.

PLEASE CHECK OUR WEBSITE FOR CHANGES DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS
