Come join us the evening of Friday Nov 8 at Keystone Ancient Forest to view the moon and stars.   Keystone Ancient Forest is located NW of Sand Springs in a 1,380 acre nature preserve featuring old growth cross timber forest.   We have permission to set up our telescopes after the park’s regular hours in the parking area near the park entrance.  Parking is limited so please carpool as much as possible.  We will be leaving the park about 11 PM so come earlier to have time to enjoy the stars.

You must leave the park when we lock the gates.

Hiking in the park trails after hours is not permitted.

Be sure to bring along layers of warmer clothes, a cap and gloves since the temperature can drop quickly after sunset.  You may also want to bring along a lawn chair and snacks if you plan to stay an extended period of time.

This is a good time for viewing the  First Quarter moon with its sharply defined shadows along the crater rims.  Early in the evening we may be able to view the planet Venus if we have clear line of sight over the trees.  Saturn and its rings are always an enjoyable sight.  Later in the evening Jupiter and its moons will be rising over the trees to the NE.

The bright stars of the summer triangle along with many star clusters and nebula are still visible in the western sky.  High overhead is Andromeda and its magnificent galaxy.
